Strength & Conditioning Training for Referees
Logan’s online training story of how he recovered from his injury to get back on the court pain-free!
Sport: Basketball Refereeing
Began Acceleration training in: 2024

Goals:
Our training goal with Logan Bilby was to get him faster and stronger while also addressing his injury concerns.
Focus Areas:
Logan needed some help with his recurring Achilles tendinopathy as well as specific exercises to help with overall strength.
On top of this, we targeted speed using an integrated rehab approach.
How we helped Logan:
Logan completed a Performance Testing Session through the NBL Referee Program. We completed a functional movement screening and went through various performance tests. During this testing we looked at movement strategies and used these to inform programming.
He has been completing online training with Acceleration for the last 7 months that includes 1-2 days of Speed and then 3-4 days of Strength, Stability and Power.
Even though he lives interstate, constant communication has been provided throughout these programs from the team at Acceleration to make sure that we are working with his access to equipment and addressing any concerns he might have had.
What Logan had to say:
“Over the past six months using the Acceleration software and working with my trainer, Cody Clasen, I’ve experienced noticeable improvements in my mobility, strength, and overall physique. This has included a reduction in body fat, visible changes in body composition, improved movement control, and a stronger feeling during training sessions.
I started the program while managing Achilles tendonitis, so I approached the training cautiously during my recovery. Although the exercises prescribed were specifically tailored to support my injury, I initially avoided some of them, not realising they were intended to aid in my rehab and progression. Once prompted to complete them, they have played an important role in my recovery.
The Acceleration System is an excellent platform for guiding training remotely. While I faced some early challenges in using it consistently, mainly due to time management and the occasional technical hiccup, Cody was instrumental in helping me stay on track. He was quick to address any issues and made thoughtful adjustments to my program to ensure it aligned with my needs and recovery timeline.
Overall, I’ve been very happy with the level of service and care shown towards me and my training journey, and I look forward to continuing with the program. If Acceleration were ever to establish a presence in Sydney, or even affiliate with local trainers, it would add significant value. Having access to some in-person support for accountability, reassessments, and one-on-one guidance would be a great complement to the online system.” – Logan, 2025
Results:
On the back of his hard work over the last 7 months, he has been able to make his debut in both WNBL and NBL this season (2024/25). He has also been able to run freely and without pain for the first time since having his recurring Achilles tendinopathy.
With him consistently getting personal bests in the gym, it is a credit to his hard work he applies when it comes to training.
He has been feeling ‘faster and stronger’ than ever before, and with the continuing training programs, we know that he will continue this upward trend. We can’t wait to see his progress in numbers when he completes his re-testing later in the year.
