For juniors, strength training for rugby tackles emphasises bodyweight exercises, controlled loading, and stability development. Plyometric work is introduced cautiously. Eccentric loading increases gradually. Free weights are used, but with lighter loads and emphasis on technique and control. A 15-year-old developing tackle strength follows a different program arc than a 25-year-old semi-professional.
